Home composting is now possible for anyone, seasoned gardeners, beginners, even those of you who live in an apartment or condo with only a small patio or balcony.

If organic composting is something new to you, or if you want an enclosed composter to compliment your compost pile, how do you know which one of the many Tumbler or Barrel Composters to buy?

There are <del>10</del> 12 great reasons to buy an Envirocycle Home Composter, and the #1 reason is the most important for most of you who have never done this before:

Easy to use. The only things you really have to do is remember to have an even mix of wet and dry items to throw in to compost, and to spin the tumbler three times a week to mix the ingredients. Easy to understand instructions come with the Envirocycle Composters.

It’s delivered to you fully assembled. Again, important for beginners. You do have to place plugs that are included in the bottom of the home composter to either gather compost tea (the organic, highly lauded liquid created from the compost), or to let the liquid run out onto the ground.

The Envirocycle composter structure is Warranteed for 5 years, and the parts are Warranteed for 1 year, although there really are no parts to break.

Consistently receives a 4 1/2 to a 5 Star rating, not only from consumers who have purchased the Envirocycle, but also from professional reviewers of organic composters.

No need to use a pitchfork or your hands to turn the compost, the tumbler sits on 8 roller wheels for easy spinning. By spinning the tumbler three times a week, the compost will get all of the mixing it needs. See the ridges built in to the container? Those give you the grip to spin the barrel easily.

Two sizes are available to fit your space, your family size, and your recycling/composting needs. The Original is 30.5″ H x 25.5″ W x 20.25″ D, makes up to 7 cubic feet of organic compost and 5 gallons of compost tea every 4-6 weeks, depending on the size of the scraps and clippings, and if the composter is in the sun. The Mini is 20.5″ H x 18″ W x 19″ D, makes up to 2.3 cubic feet of organic compost and 1 gallon of compost tea every 4-6 weeks.

Both sizes of Envirocycle home composters are attractive, and will look great in your garden, on your patio, or on your balcony. The Original comes in Black, and the Mini is an earth Brown.

The compost tea in the bottom of the base, if you choose to gather it, is viewed as Liquid Gold by gardeners, and it is yours free for the making as an added bonus. The compost tea can be used as an organic supplement in the soil or water for your plants, or it can be used as a foliar spray. Benefits include increased plant growth, helps suppress plant diseases, creates more stress and drought-tolerant plants, and helps the plants grow so much healthier.

Easy to dump. Remove the barrell from the base, roll to where you want to dump the compost, open the latched door, roll the barrel until the door is on the ground, and shake. The compost will fall out onto the ground for easy spreading, or onto a cover so you can easily place in a bucket.

Both of the Envirocycle composters are made from post-consumer recycled, BPA-free plastics. If you’re going to be eco-friendly and grow green, your container should represent your ideals, which Envirocycle does.

The packaging of the home composters is minimal, and is printed on recycled stock, using water based, safe ink.

Envirocycle recently changed the style of both organic composters, and added additional air vents to have better control over the moisture inside. These changes were done based on comments received from consumers. What better company could you choose for your composter than one that actually listens to you, and makes improvements based on what you want?

We ship both the Original, priced at $174.95, and Mini, priced at $137.95 to you for FREE. Check out all of the details and specs at Natures Hydroponics. The Envirocycle Composters really are a great product, and will be a great investment in the health of your plants and landscaping.

These are all items that are readily available in every tomato, piece of lettuce, carrot, cucumber and herbs we put in our mouth. Buy organic products and you spend a fortune.

We all know the safest and healthiest vegetables are homegrown organic, but how many people nowadays have either the space for a garden, or the time it takes to care for a garden?

And, once summer is over, so are the healthy, fresh vegetables for those of you who are lucky enough to have a garden space.

An indoor grow cabinet is the solution, and a great investment in the health of your family. You control everything that will affect what you are growing and eating, from the quality of the water and plant nutrient you use, to the size of the vegetables you prefer. Since the grow cabinet is indoors, you can grow all year long, and not worry about the weather outdoors. Even pests will not be an issue!

Do you have to be an experienced or expert gardener to grow plants and vegetables indoors? No! A Supercloset grow cabinet or locker is fully automated, includes all of the equipment and components you need to start growing your own easily, and is fully assembled when shipped to you. A tutorial DVD comes with your Supercloset grow cabinet, and lifetime customer service is available for questions you have.

These indoor grow cabinets are so easy to use, they plug into one 110V outlet in your home, and look just like a file cabinet. You can grow in soil, or water, or the grow medium that is provided. A free 3-year warranty is included, which speaks volumes about the quality of Supercloset’s grow rooms and grow cabinets.

Once you have received your cabinet, the healthiest and safest way to start growing any vegetables, or flowers if you prefer, is with seeds. Although picking up small plants at the local nursery or home improvement store is easy, so often the plants come with their own diseases which could ruin your entire crop.

You also do not know what type of plant nutrients and pesticides they have used on the plants to make them look so healthy.

Most of the grow cabinets are large enough, and have different chambers, to have at least two plant cycles growing at the same time. The seeds you first planted will be moved to the flowering chamber when the plants are around 2″ tall, then you can start more seeds in the vegetation chamber to have a constant supply of fresh vegetables and plants.

Will you yield enough to feed your family? Yes, depending on the size of the grow room cabinet you choose. And remember, your next yield from the second batch of seed planting will be ready to eat in 6 to 8 weeks .

The last thing I would like to remind you of is that there are some vegetables that must be pollinated by bees, such as squash. You will have to do a little online research to make sure what you want to plant will succeed indoors without the benefit of bees.

These Supercloset grow cabinets make a great gift for any health conscious family member or friend. Most everyone has at least a secret desire to grow something, so why not give them the best chance of success!

How can they not be the new Sheriff in town?

All of the different styles and sizes of the T5 lighting fixtures are specifically designed for the grow light industry, and have the following great features:

The T5 lamps and fluorescent fixtures are high output and give off roughly twice the light of T8s and normal T5s, reducing the number of required lamps for your growing area

Fewer lamps, and the smaller diameter of a T5 lamp, hugely reduces the amount of mercury to manage during replacement, which is great for our environment

Every Light Reflector is manufactured from Alanod Miro4, which boasts a 95% Total Reflectivity (TR), giving your plants a higher percentage of light from T5 lighting fixtures

The fluorescent lamp sockets are chemical and fire resistant

The T5 fluorescent light fixture and ballast have a 5-year Warranty

The High Output T5 lamps have a 1 year Warranty

The electronics and lamp socket components are manufactured by quality, well-known companies such as Leviton, Fulham, GE, Philips

The open T5 lighting fixtures are manufactured from light-weight Aluminum, so they will not rust, and will give you excellent heat dissipation

These indoor fluorescent grow lights are only 3″ high for all of you with space constraints

The enclosed fluorescent light fixture for Outdoors or high humidity is made with a Fiberglass reinforced body, and has achieved every necessary Rating for outdoors, splash zone application, and hose down tests possible

The quality and durability of these fluorescent fixtures means they can be used in the smallest plant growing area for personal use only, up to commercial growing areas, with each grower getting the required growth and satisfaction needed

You can purchase the T5 fluorescent light fixtures with all 6500K lamps installed, all 3000K lamps installed, or a mixture of half and half, which covers your vegetation through harvest plant cycle, all for the same price!

Everything is UL Certified, plus, each fixture is Universal, so you can hang it vertically or horizontally, depending on where you need the light

There’s no assembly required, and V-clips are included, so hanging your new high output T5 grow lights will be easy

There are so many individual features that I won’t be able to keep your interest long enough to read, so just some basics about the different styles:

The Evergreen High Output T5 Grow Light’s best feature to me, other than all of the above items of course, is that there is a built-in Daisy Chain that lets you tie additional Fluorogrow fluorescent fixtures together as your gardening needs and space grow. This is so important - how many gardeners stick with the same size and shape of their garden, and never expand in order to grow more and different varieties of vegetables or flowers?

Is it time to switch your Hydroponics HID grow light system to a LED grow light system? Yes!!

With improved technology, LED grow lights are being used by commercial and residential gardeners to grow Hydroponics plants through their entire growth and bloom cycle. Stick to the larger, full spectrum LED grow lights and you will be happy with not only the results, but also the energy and heat savings you will notice immediately.

Too many indoor gardeners think that LED grow lights are just too expensive to purchase. Yes, they are more expensive to buy initially when you properly choose LED grow lights with full spectrum to use through the entire plant cycle. But that is where your expense stops.

With an HID grow light system, you need a ballast (two metallic ballasts for MH and HPS or one digital ballast), MH and HPS grow lights, an exhaust fan and duct work to remove the heat, and a cooling system or a/c since you can’t run your exhaust system 24 hours a day. That is just the initial equipment costs. Each month you will pay for the high electric costs of running an HID grow light system, plus your HID grow lights, which run at least $100 for good quality, should be replaced every 7-9 months for optimum performance.

With LED grow lights, there is basically no heat produced, you do not need an elaborate exhaust system to remove heat (just for plant odor removal if you so choose), no ballasts are required, and the LEDs will last 7-10 years with no bulb replacement.

The best time for you to set up an LED grow light system is when you are expanding or setting up your initial Hydroponics growing area. You will reap the savings immediately by not purchasing all of the equipment needed for an HID grow light system. However, any time is a good time to switch to LEDs. You can save up to 80% on your energy bill every month, have no heat signature, will not have to buy new HID grow lights once or twice a year, and will not have to switch between MH and HPS bulbs anymore.

I recently worked with an electrical company for 53 Sunshine Systems GrowPanel Pro LED grow light systems, and did an energy savings comparison for them. An HID system would have cost $37,000 initally, the LED system cost $48,000. Their electric bill would have been almost $29,000 this year to run HIDs, to run LEDs the cost was just over $9,000. Their entire purchase will be paid for in 2 1/2 years with the savings on their electric bill. Amazing, isn’t it! For at least 5 years, their only expense will be the much smaller electric bill since they will not have to replace MH and HPS bulbs, do maintenance or have ballasts and exhaust fans break down from all of the heat.

When you do switch to LED grow lights, do keep your old system, or at least the ballast and HID grow lights. Some gardeners like to speed up the growth rate, or add heat to their gardening area when it is useful in the winter. There is nothing wrong with using a combination, just use your HID lights for 4-6 hours a day, and your LED lights for 10-12 hours a day. You will still save on your energy bills and help our environment.

Now is the time in my plant growth cycle to step up the plant odor removal. If you have visited my blogs, you know that I use and recommend the Big Blue UV Ozone Generator. This Big Blue Ozone is the only ozone generator with enough UV lamps to go from no odor control needed to full-blown plant odor elimination and grow room sterilization at the end of the plant cycle.

Based on the size of your indoor grow room, if you have more than 3-4 plants, your plant odor elimination will require an 8″, 10″ or 12″ UV ozone generator, all with multiple UV lamps and controls. With the Big Blue, UV lamps can be turned on individually. At the first sign of plant odor, turn on the first UV lamp, as odors pick up again, turn on the 2nd UV lamp, and on and on until all of the lamps in your UV ozone generator are on and running to eliminate that odor.

If, after turning all of the UV lamps on, you begin detecting the smell of plant odor near the end of your plant’s life cycle, adjust the Big Blue Ozone within your duct work exhaust system to increase the “mixing chamber” for the ozone. You should notice immediate results and again your grow room will be free of plant odor.

There are a couple of different ways to easily adjust the Big Blue Ozone’s mixing chamber:

If you have an attic, exhaust directly into the attic, which creates a large mixing chamber. The longer the ozone “sees” the plant odor, the more effective plant odor removal is.

Increase the length of your duct work, bring the UV ozone generator as close to the grow light reflector as possible which creates more of a distance between the ozone generator and the exhaust fan, therefore, increasing the mixing chamber once again.

Create more air flow around the Big Blue by using risers and reducers in your duct work, over the top of the Big Blue, which will again add to the mixing chamber and give you more plant odor relief. This also, by the way, is how you can purchase a 12″ Big Blue ozone generator based on the number of plants you are growing and the size of your indoor grow room, even if you only have 8″ duct work. There is no need to replace all of your duct work just because you have increased the number of plants you are growing.

As a reminder, always synchronize your Big Blue UV ozone generator to run at the same time as your exhaust fan. No sense trying to eliminate plant odor if there is no where for it to go, and you will also never get a build-up of ozone in your grow room.

Your ozone generator doesn’t have UV lamps that can be easily adjusted as your plants grow? Sorry! And that is why I recommend the Big Blue Ozone. Purchasing a Big Blue will stop any worries concerning plant odor, and is perfect to sterilize your grow room of mites and mold at the end of the season.

Hydroponics, or the practice of growing plants without using soil, has become more than just a hobby for many gardeners today. If you want the best possible yield of tasty fruits and vegetables, you may want to consider the benefits of using digital grow light ballasts in your indoor garden or greenhouse set-up. There are actually several advantages in switching from the more traditional coil or magnetic grow ballast to the electronic digital ballast. While the initial replacement may seem costlier, the better efficiency and longer life of your grow light bulbs will quickly recoup that expense and actually start saving you money, especially when you find yourself buying less replacement bulbs than you once did.

Your digital ballast components will extend the life of your grow light bulbs as much as three times longer, since electronic ballasts tend to prevent overheating. The soft but quick start-up and continuous output of power are much easier on their wear without any decrease in performance. This is important because the luminescence must be maintained so that your Hydroponics plants can excel during their grow cycle. Electronic ballast units automatically shut off if there is a short in a circuitry or some incompatibility arises in performance, an important safety feature.

Digital grow ballasts are set up for you to use either MH or HPS grow lights, which is extremely convenient for switching your grow light from the grow cycle to the bloom cycle to give you perfect lighting conditions for your Hydroponics plants. No more inconvenient switching of ballasts; just remove the MH grow light and pop in the HPS grow light in a matter of minutes.

These grow light ballasts also save you money because they use less power from the outlet to your lamp, reducing power needs by as much as 30%, which translates into electric consumption savings. Although they start-up fast, in under one minute, they run cooler than the core/coil or magnetic versions, and they are much quieter. In fact, they are silent because no fans are involved. At 99% efficiency rating, you are certainly getting your money’s worth. Additionally the 1000W electronic ballasts can be purchased with a dimmable wattage feature that can also be very convenient.

The digital ballast tends to be smaller in size and lighter in weight than the traditional systems, which may appeal to some Hydroponics gardeners. However, these ballasts are most important because they provide the light your plants need at a more stable and consistent level, increase the life of your grow light bulbs, and use less power, all important factors that will save you money overall.

Check out the details and the facts at Natures Hydroponics, purchase the digital ballast size you need, and grow your plants healthier while saving money.

Most of the time your Hydroponic lights and light reflectors work great in your Hydroponic grow room, except…what happened to the plants on the corners and ends? The plants are getting taller, but are kind of leggy and the foliage isn’t as full.

And what if you have a 4×6 or 3×5 Hydroponics gardening area? One grow light is not enough for complete light coverage, and two grow lights create too much heat and expense. Depending on your particular space for indoor gardening, it is sometimes impossible to conform to the light coverage that Hydroponic lighting and light reflectors provide .

If you do not have complete light coverage over your entire plant canopy, with the proper light spectrum reaching the outer edges of your Hydroponics gardening area, overall plant growth will be affected.

How can you solve these problems? Put your Hydroponic lighting system on the move with a Light Rail Light Mover to reach every inch of your Hydroponics growing area.

The grow light and reflector are hung on a track, powered by a motor which will move the Hydroponic lighting back and forth. The speed and time delay at each end of the track is adjustable for your specific Hydroponics plant requirements.

The Hydroponic lighting system can be placed within 12″ of the plant canopy without burning the tips of the Hydroponics plants, since the Hydroponic lighting is moving constantly with the light mover system.

Stationary Hydroponic lights always shine the same intensity in the same spot. Moving your grow lights will provide light from different directions onto the plant canopy meaning more light energy being processed by more foliage, promoting even growth.

The Light Rail light mover increases the intensity of light coverage to more Hydroponics plants by 25% or more.

As the system travels down the track, it delivers light from different angles, providing even lighting to every plant, including the corner and end Hydroponics plants

A Light Rail 3.5 light mover can be installed with 6′, 9′ and 12′ length tracks. A 6′ and 9′ track works with one grow light and reflector, and the 12′ track can be used with two grow lights and reflectors, making a light mover system a very economical use of grow lights and electricity.

A Light Rail Light Mover System is easy to install, and comes in a 3.5 size for hobby Hydroponics gardeners, and 5.0 for commercial gardening or Hydroponics gardening areas of 8×8 and larger.

A Light Mover System is a valuable addition to most Hydroponics gardening areas to solve consistency problems with Hydroponic lighting.

Which one? Metal Halide (MH) or High Pressure Sodium (HPS light system) HID Grow Lights? Both High Intensity Discharge (HID) grow lights are great – at their given time in a Hydroponics plant stage of life. Hydroponics plants need what both offer, and there are ways to have both.

Metal Halide Hydroponic lights have the intense light of blue white spectrums for the initial growth period of Hydroponics plants. Blue light drives photosynthesis, translocates sugars and keeps the immune system working properly. MH HID grow lights will give your Hydroponics plants increased leaf growth, strong stems and branches, and a healthy life.

High Pressure Sodium Hydroponic lights have the red, orange and yellow spectrums for blooming, flowering and produce yield stages of Hydroponics plants. HPS HID grow lights elevate electromagnetic wavelengths hitting the plants, signaling the Hydroponics plants to start producing bloom hormones, which, along with quality plant nutrients, creates higher yield, more abundant blooms and fruiting sites.

Since your Hydroponics plants need all the spectrums for their life cycle, and it’s expensive and time consuming to buy two types of grow ballasts, two types of HID grow lights, and rewire when the blooming time is right, consider these options:

Eye Hortilux and Sun Master make MH Hydroponic lights that have enough red, orange and yellow, along with blue white spectrums, to trigger bloom hormones. They also have MH conversion HID grow lights made to work in HPS grow ballasts.

HID Hut makes Electronic digital ballasts, which are quiet and energy efficient with a power factor of 99%. These digital grow ballasts will run MH and HPS HID grow lights. So no more rewiring grow ballasts, just screw in the different HID grow lights.

T-5 thru T-12 Fluorescent Hydroponic lighting , are intense enough for most Hydroponics plants, not all. Seedlings and smaller type plants such as lettuce will do well.

All of your plants can be happy and fruitful with the proper Hydroponic lighting, and with these options, life will be easier for you also. Don’t forget proper air circulation and venting in your Hydroponic indoor gardening area!

Read on for those installation tips, plus “sniff” tests you want and need to know.

“Contact Time” are the two most important words in installation of the UV ozone generator. The longer the ozone sees the odor molecules, the better the kill rate.

Installation depends on if you are exhausting into a large attic or already have a long run of duct work. The attic and long run act as a large mixing chamber which will destroy odors more effectively. For example, if you have around 30 Hydroponics plants and are exhausting into a large attic, an 8″ Big Blue Ozone may be sufficient. But for those same Hydroponics plants, if you are exhausting outdoors, a 25′ duct work run would be needed to accomplish the same odor destruction. More ozone must be added to make up for the shorter contact time between ozone and odor molecules.

Ozone air treatment is best accomplished with the lowest exhaust fan cfm to achieve proper garden air exchanges. The longer period of contact time the odor is exposed to the ozone, the better the odor molecules are destroyed. The slower air movement by a lower cfm exhaust fan reduces the amount of post ducting required to effectively treat the exhausted odor.

Big Blue Ozone can be installed in any size duct work, from 2″ to 14″, by using reducers and expanders that you can pick up at any home improvement store, and are actually a benefit when used. The expansion or contraction in your duct work creates turbulence that aids in the mixing of the ozone and odor molecules. The Big Blue’s stainless steel diameter can also be adjusted to compensate for irregular exhaust dimensions at time of installation.

The Big Blue ozone generator has built-in switches, or controls, to allow you to turn the UV-C bulbs on and off based on how much odor is being produced by your Hydroponics plants. Before you actually install the ozone generator, play around with the switches so you know which switch controls which lamp, and how many lamps you are activating with each switch. NEVER LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE UV-C LAMPS ONCE ACTIVATED.

Install your ozone generator in the duct work after the exhaust fan, as close to the light reflector as possible, which will give you more contact time before the exhausted air reaches the exhaust fan, but as far away from the grow light as convenient. Heat does not affect the Big Blue UV ozone generator itself, heat only affects a Corona Discharge ozone generator. A small amount of ozone is lost from the heat of your HID grow lights, however, Big Blue Ozone’s multiple UV-C bulbs are the strongest available and produce enough ozone to compensate, so there is no loss of effectiveness from the heat of your grow lights, just no reason to make the UV-C bulbs work harder.

This is a great effective and immediate test to determine if your Big Blue ozone is installed properly, and the length of duct work is correct. Place a small container of stinky fish fertilizer between a small fan and the Big Blue ozone generator. With the duct work fully collapsed right up to the Big Blue Ozone, have someone smell the exhausted odor; it will stink. Slowly extend the duct work material and keep checking the exhausted smell. As the duct work gets longer, the fish smell becomes less and less. Eventually the fish fertilizer odor will disappear and be replaced by the faint, pleasant odor of ozone. You will now know that the installation of your ozone generator and duct work are correct.

If you begin to smell Hydroponics plant odor after running your system for awhile, you will need to increase your duct work length or increase the number of ozone generator lamps you turned on until you achieve the correct mixing, with no plant odor or slightly ozonated exhaust. Do not use more UV-C bulbs than the amount of Hydroponics plant odor being emitted

Synchronize your exhaust system with a digital timer to run the ozone generator anytime the exhaust fan is on. If you are using light and dark growth cycles, it will save on the life of your UV-C bulbs.

The Big Blue’s UV ozone generator is not affected by humidity at all, so there is no concern about safety or electrical shorts after installation.

Maintenance of your UV ozone generator is a snap. Wipe off the UV-C bulbs at the end of each growing season. While the bulbs will last up to 24 months if run 24/7, ozone output will begin to diminish after about a year, so listen to your nose and replace the UV-C bulbs as needed for peace of mind.

The Big Blue Ozone Generator can also be used at the end of plant growing cycles to sterilize your Hydroponic grow room. Let the ozone generator run overnight in your sealed grow room. This will absolutely sterilize your Hydroponics indoor grow room. Be rid of mold spores and eggs of those nasty little pests immediately. The only way pests will re-enter your grow room is on your clothing or from contaminated cuttings and new Hydroponics plants.

Installing a Big Blue ozone generator is uncomplicated once you know the facts, and one of the many great reasons why a Big Blue Ozone Generator is a wise decision to eliminate Hydroponics plant odor in your grow room.
